Since 1998, more than 85 church congregations were founded and lead by about 80 evangelists and 45 bible women in the various villages. These congregations attract many thousand locals who are eager to hear the Gospel and receive biblical teaching.
The first physical church was constructed in 1999 in Kalipatnam. HLWM has now 23 brick churches in its area. Provided that HLWM receives the necessary financial funding, more church buildings are planned to be built to have a meeting place especially during the monsoon season.
Our church buildings are also used as schools or day-care centres for younger children during the week.
Moreover, HLWM started a radio ministry programme in Telugu in 2008 which potentially reaches a population of about 85 million Indians who only understand and speak Telugu – the local language in Andhra Pradesh.
Bible School
Located on the compound of the children’s home in Kalipatnam, more than 20 students attend a bible school for about two years. Some of them will become evangelists and bible women in one of the villages in the delta area, other students become active in other areas in Andhra Pradesh afterwards. The course is taught in Telugu, the language spoken by about 85 million people in Andhra Pradesh.
Conventions
It has become a tradition in the meantime, that several board members of the Dutch foundation plus invited guests travel to India in February or March each year to participate in the HLWM conventions in Kalipatnam/ Saripalli that thousands of Indians attend to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. These conventions have an enormous impact on the local community and have attracted many people even from far away. After the conventions, guests and staff typically spent several days visiting the villages and congregation in the delta river to lay foundation stones or get into contact with the locals.
Another convention is taking place at least every second year for women only. Next to hearing the Christian message, women learn more about hygiene, health, family planning, etc. during this time.
